The journey of our water begins at the source. In Kohala, Honoka'a, and Hilo, our sources are wells. Rainwater is naturally filtered through underground porous volcanic rock for roughly 25 years before it reaches the aquifer.
In Waimea, the source is Kohakohau and Waikoloa streams. All other municipalities source their water from wells. These waters first pass through municipal treatment to meet EPA and state drinking water standards.
Then Quench takes over. We run that already safe water through our 8 step commercial grade filtration to deliver the purest, best tasting water on the Big Island.
Every Quench station is equipped with the same commercial grade 8 step system. Eight stages of protection between the municipal tap and your glass.
Removes visible particulate: dirt, sand, dust, debris. First line of defense.
Finer second stage catch for turbidity and suspended solids.
Granular activated carbon removes organic chemicals, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, chlorine and chloramine.
Second sediment round protects the reverse osmosis stage from any carry over particles.
Sub micron polish. Everything headed into RO is pristine.
Removes sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, lead, arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfates, nitrates, phosphorous, cyanide and endocrine disruptors.
0.5 micron activated coconut shell block. Adsorbs remaining chlorine, sediment, VOCs, tastes and odors.
